Even in the modern world, public waste management still remains a major environmental issue, especially in areas that rely heavily on traditional trash bins without any automation or monitoring. Overflowing bins and unhygienic conditions are common problems due to inefficient systems. Because we wanted our smart bin to have full cleanliness and to be used in public areas. This project suggests a smart waste that uses Internet of Things (IoT) technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI), and it automatically detect if someone is approaching the bin and automatically opens the lid without the person making any physical contact with it. This system shows that cleanliness and usability of the disposal process can be really easy and hygienic. An Arduino Nano microcontroller, motion sensors, servo motors for the lid’s movement, LED lights for visual cues and a voice module for audio feedback were all used in making this smart bin. These parts were all designed to work together in real time, which enables the system to detect motion, react by activating the lids and offer an audiovisual interaction, which has never been done before. The construction and testing phases included circuit design, hardware assembly and performance evaluation in many different settings. The test results showed that the system works reliably with accurate motion detection, fast lid response, and smooth operation. The sound also helped guide users during the process. Our current version only has wired power and a simple motion sensor, but it still lays important groundwork. If we ever want to advance it in the future, we can advance it by using solar power integrated with mobile applications and using advanced AI-based waste sorting. All of these things considered; this project truly shows how to use a straightforward but very efficient smart technology to enhance public waste management in a very realistic and simplified way.
